FAQ

Have questions about automated gates? See common questions about install, operation and maintenance of automated gate systems.

What kind of power requirements do you have?

Lazy Gate systems can run on 110V, 220V, or Solar.

Will a single gate be wide enough or do you need a double gate?

A single gate can cover a road span of up to 20′. Therefore, a double gate system can cover a road span of up to 40′.

Are there any special materials or designs for gate construction?

We have a catalog with our standard gate designs, but we can custom build anything you can dream up, so long as it fits the weight and size parameters. We make 80% of our gates out of Aluminum for weight and corrosion prevention.

What Color can a gate system be?

We can powder coat almost any color. We can provide a link to the hundreds of options. The most popular are Satin Black, Textured Black, Copper Vein, and Oil Rubbed Bronze.

How can users control the gate?

There are many options to control the gate and range from simple garage-door remotes, to keypads, to phone-app-based operation. Our systems can accept any brand, so they can integrate with your prefered brand or access control system

What are the advantages of a Vertical Pivot Gate compared to a swing gate?

Some of the many advantages include: – better operation in snowy conditions. The gate can simply lift up for the plow, vs having to shovel the radius of the swing first. – Lower risk of hitting vehicles that pull up too close to a swinging gate – Can fit in tighter spaces for your property – Don’t require multiple safety lines cut into the road base

Do you exclusively offer Vertical Pivot Gates?

Lazy Gate offers Vertical, Swing, and Slide/Rolling Gate systems.

Can you incorporate a custom logo on the gate?

Yes – We can incorporate existing logos, or we can design and laser cut out any logo or image you can dream up.

Do you offer solar-powered options?

Yes – We offer a solar package that includes a 90W panel, Solar pack (Extra battery bank, inverter, and charger) and a weatherproof housing box.

Is this a DIY project or will you be contracting out the installation?

Either/Or. You and a partner can install yourself or you can work with one of our recommended dealers/installers.

Are emergency access provisions needed for first responders?

You will want to check your local code, but if required or wanted, we can provide a simple Fire Box (Knox Box) for the first responders.

Do you paint or powdercoat the gate systems?

All Lazy Gates are powder-coated for durability to withstand the elements.
